Letter From The Gibbie Co-Section Heads !

Welcome to Giborim 2010!!!!

The countdown is on for the 2010 Camp Kadimah adventure! We’ve been busy getting ready all year and now the time is finally here. This summer, the Giborim section takes on the theme Treasure Hunters! Campers will have the chance to create a treasure box that they can fill with puzzle pieces throughout the summer. Who knows what the pieces will become or where they’ll lead you?!

We’re really excited to see some of our favourite activities from past summers returning and even more thrilled to be introducing some really innovative programs. We’re so excited that we’ve already gotten started planning out all the ways to make this the best summer ever!

Get ready for an exciting summer that will be filled with sports, singing and dancing, water activities, Jewish programs and so much more.

We can’t wait to see you at camp!

Welcome to Camp Kadimah's Blog 2010

Welcome to Camp Kadimah’s blog- a spot to talk about one of our favorite things- Camp, of course!

As you might already know, all campers at Kadimah this summer will choose most of each day. Some of this choosing will happen online before camp, and others will be chosen the day before or even the same day, so that what you do can reflect what you are feeling like learning and having fun with at that particular time!

There are tons of things that we’ll be doing at camp this summer from arts and crafts, tons of different sports(tennis, soccer leagues for world cup, softball, basketball, pickup games for different sports after dinner, and sportsleagues for girls, guys, and co-ed, water ski, wakeboard on our new wakeboard tower, canoe, sailing, fishing, gymnastics, yoga, tye dye, dancersize, guitar- and so so much more!

Last summer one of my favorite things to do was to get involved in some of the programs myself. I’ll let you in on a few things that I have been talking about with some of the staff in preparation for this summer:

Iron chef for all: Yes, I and some other staff, are preparing for you to participate in some crazy cooking classes! This program will be a regular choice for Macharniks, and will also be on offer for every section during the summer at least once. We’ll make fun and exciting things to add to our delicious camp meals such as wontons for wonton soup, spanokopita, samosas, and special stuffed challahs!

Kadimah vegetable patch: It’s an amazing thing for us to get involved in growing things ourselves- we can be sure it’s organic, local and fresh. I have already started growing lettuce, herbs and tomatoes to be ready for transplanting into our new Kadimah garden during the first few days of camp. We’ll enjoy the fruits of our labour during the summer and plant new seedlings to enhance our crops!

Guest stars at Shirkud: While our Shirkud director is coming to us direct from Israel, did you know that we have 3 former shirked directors on our senior staff this year? Assistant Kochot Section head, JD; driver Noah Pascoe, and Director Joanna Wexler have all run Shirkud and we are all looking forward to guest star days on the pavilion and in the RCC! Rickabamboo anyone?

Counting the days.....

Jo
